St. Valentin |
| |
Built at the end of the 16 th century in the low part of the village, it is the only parish to be consecrated to the lovers' saint. Close to a beautiful waterfall, of about 7 meters high, whose water in the past was used to activate a mill, arises the parish church consecrated to St. Valentin, the village's protector. |

| The building-history of this church can be divided in five main periods. First Period . End of 9 th century – beginning of 10 th century: building of the original nucleus in late-Byzantine style with roman influence. Second Period . First half of the 14 th century: the church was expanded and partially reconstructed upon a previous construction; the big ogival portal has a gothic-aragonese influence as well as the big transversal arcs inside the church. Third Period . 17 th -18 th century: a chapel was added. Fourth Period. Savoyard period: three more lateral chapels were added in both sides of the aisle. Fifth Period . 20 th century: the bell-tower was built (first half of 20 th century) and several restorations have been done (second half of the century). |
|
EXTERNAL: The principal prospect is very simple and linear, and it is characterized by a big ogival portal in the symmetrical axis, framed with several ogival arcs supported by delicate columns and overcame by a big rose window. A small polychromatic decoration added during the last restoration above the portal, gives a bit of colour to the candour of the light parget. The building's delicate aesthetic is complemented by the bell-tower. During the last restoration also the square in front of the church has been built again. |

| INTERNAL: The atmosphere inside is characterized by simplicity, with no decoration. Light enters from the small coloured glass windows in the altar, and from the rose window glass of the front side, bouncing on the light yellow side walls, the wooden decorations and the light floor. |
